Acceptable Viral Transport media includes:

BD UVT, Remel M4, Remel M4RT, Remel M5, Remel M6 or UTM transport media.

Special Handling

Place swab in VTM.  Transport on Ice.

Reference Range

"Not Detected" result does not preclude VZV infection and should not be used as the sole basis for treatment or other patient management decisions.

Detected” result indicates the presence of VZV DNA in the patient sample.
Invalid” result indicates inability to conclusively determine presence or absence of VZV DNA in the patient sample.

 

The Diasorin Molecular Simplexa VZV Swab Direct test is intended for the qualitative detection and differentiation of VZV infection in mucocutaneous and cutaneous lesion swabs from patients with signs and symptoms.
